Accomplishments
As County Clerk, Kathy has set an aggressive agenda, which includes a number of new initiatives to expand services, while implementing cost-savings measures. Kathy has:
- Created innovative new programs to get residents to renew their licenses and registrations locally – keeping much needed tax revenue here in Western New York instead of sending it to Albany.
- Stood up to her own party and successfully fought the Albany politicians’ ill-conceived plan to mandate new license plates, saving $129 million for motorists across the state.
- Initiated the effort to permanently remove burdensome thruway tolls, saving millions for businesses and residents.
- Started Passports on the Move, bringing passport applications to local businesses and organizations, generating over $160,000 in new revenue for Erie County.
- Used technology to make the Clerk’s office more efficient – saving businesses time and money and decreasing wait times at the DMV.
- Streamlined the complicated process of starting a small business, making it easier for Western New York entrepreneurs to get their business off the ground, as well as Created a ‘Business Brochure’ outlining resources to assist new businesses in Erie County.
- Saved taxpayers a million dollars by relocating the Erie County DMV and making it more customer-friendly.
- Dramatically improved the customer service experience in the Auto Bureau.
- Advocated for consumers by partnering with the New York State Attorney General to alert the public to a fake DMV website and “deed scam.”
- Streamlined the Pistol Permit process.
- Aggressively promoted the Enhanced Driver’s License, making Erie County number one in the state in issuing EDLs to help cross-border crossing into Canada, generating over one million in revenue for county taxpayers.
